Birthday and things

Heidi modeling Daniel's hat at our favorite place..Costco!

Daniel and his friend got to feed leftover rice to chickens.

This basket case...I mean, bucket head?

Made pink and green cake pops to take to daycare for Daniel's birthday.  They were a hit.

We had a great time celebrating Daniel's birthday!  He was SO excited about it!

On Daniel's birthday we went to IHOP for breakfast!  Yum!

Also went to the library where he did puzzles and tracing.

We opened up presents throughout the day.  Here he is opening "beads" from Aunt Emmy.  He LOOOOVES them.  We took a few other birthday shots on our camera but I don't have them with me right now.  Not too many shots of opening presents since he was kind of on a roll.

For his dessert he requested a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and "crystals."  I was pretty happy with how it turned out and Daniel was thrilled.

Heidi rocked her pigtails.

Our friends got Daniel Candyland for his birthday and he loves it.  We play it multiple times a day.  It's kind of perfect for a 3 year old.

Heidi modeling while on a walk a week or so ago.

She doesn't really take a pacifier, but it looks to me like she could.  I love watching babies suck on nothing in their sleep.  Too cute.

Daniel's big present from us was this new splash pad/sprinkler thing.

More birthday shots are coming as soon as I get the camera.  Currently at school procrastinating though so I don't have it with me.  Overall he had a great birthday with a couple friends who came over for dinner.  He's thrilled to be three!

Lately

Whoops, it happened again.  It's been a bit since posting.  But it was a busy week with both my concert and prom.  Anyway, here's what's been happening for the past couple weeks or so.

Looking out the window at the library.

We went and got Guri Guri which is a Hawaiian/Japanese ice cream/sherbet like treat.  We got Daniel his own...and boy did we pay for it at bedtime.  But it was fun at the time!

D&H testing some elephants at the store, looking up at Tom with a look in their eyes in hopes that he'd cave.

Had a great Sunday beach trip.

These two cuddled on the couch one morning.

Which gave us another great laughing video.  I can't get enough of those.

Heidi came to a faculty meeting with me while Daniel got to play with some seventh graders.

Heidi got some new shoes and is loving the freedom she has with her walker, but she'd really rather just know how to walk by herself.

The look I get when I ask him to smile...

Saturday morning toddler silliness.

Some cookies I made for a friend's birthday party.

Birthday party with gymnastics!

Tracing and Walking

I'm going to try to update this somewhat more regularly so I don't have a huge photo dump.

Here's the three of us waiting for Tom to get home from work on Monday.

Tuesday Daniel learned how to trace letters.  He's been working on drawing D, E, and P with sidewalk chalk.  On Tuesday I helped him figure out how to trace with his dry erase book.  He loved it!

It made me realize we definitely don't have a toddler anymore.  He's for sure a preschooler.

I was impressed with his work!  I mean, I'm his mom, so it's probably a requirement.

No daycare on Tuesday means the kiddos had a little time at school.  Here's Daniel sitting with his 7th grade friends listening to a presentation.  Yes, with his bike helmet on.

Heidi has taken to cuddling up with pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals when she sees them.  It's super cute.

Okay and here is a video I meant to post awhile ago.  It's from March 2 when Heidi was figuring out how to put one foot in front of the other.  Looking at the video now, it's amazing to see what a struggle it was for her then.  She's now comfortably cruising where ever she wants to go with confidence.  But, on March 2, this was a big deal!  I want to post it because it's really nice to look back on these blogs to remember when the kiddos were doing what.  Even if it gets posted nearly a month later...

Alrighty, nothing exciting but that's what we've got.

Spring Break

St. Patrick's Day.

We were at the "climbing playground" when the fountain turned on.  We had swim stuff in the car but determined it was easier to just let Daniel go in his pull up for a few minutes.  We'll have to go back another time in swim stuff so he can really play.

He loves building a box with Magnatiles and then putting other toys in it.

It's been tricky to play outside recently because Heidi just wants to crawl around, but we have no grass, just concrete.  Solution - pack n play in the garage.  I was surprised this actually worked for a bit.

We had so much fun hanging out together over spring break.

Heidi likes kale chips!

I was trying to get a picture of her standing up cause it really looked like she was helping with the dishes.  I failed.

Fun trip to the aquarium.

I was so happy to have Daniel help clean the baseboards and the cabinets!  He's still young enough that he thinks it's fun.

Heidi enjoyed story time at the library.

Daniel really enjoyed the puzzles and games they had to play at the library.

Went out for a hike on Saturday.

Daniel likes to help in the kitchen, especially when I let him lick the beater!  The best part!

We went out for happy hour and french fries on Saturday.

Apart from tortillas, Heidi has really only eaten healthy food so far.  Well that changed on Saturday when we gave her some fries.  She was pretty happy with that!

Heidi is energetic and curious.  She also loves to bang on things.  I got the best picture ever.  Definitely worth 1000 words.

Daniel had a blast throwing rocks into the ocean.

I made some tractor cookies.

My taste tester approved.
