Post Titles Are Hard

Daniel got to wear Tom's work shirt this afternoon.  (Also, is it just me or does he look gigantic in this picture?)

Didn't get a good picture because he was constantly moving, but he thought this whole idea was hilarious...as did we.

No Daycare

No daycare today = Monday morning naps!

He sure is spoiled, getting to sleep on/with us all the time, but it's just the best thing.

Sunday Pics

Well this is Danny's new form of protest when he doesn't want to get in the car seat.  He's strong enough to wiggle around and stand up before we can get him buckled in.  He arches his back and refuses to bed his knees.  Little toot.

Luckily moments of protest are equally matched with moments of joy, like when you get to take a turn at the wheel!

Here's a shot of Danny playing with this new board of stuff we are in the process of making him.  We picked up a free piece of scrap wood from Lowe's, covered it with some fabric, and then attached a bunch of random stuff that we picked up at a 2nd hand store and Lowe's.  We still have some tubes, handles, and a tap light to throw on here.  So far he has a box with a door, a calculator, a pill box, a clothes pin, a castor, a spring door stop, and a chain lock.

Pretty fun!  Nice to have him feeling a bit better today!

Sick Day

This bean woke up pretty early today and then needed a couple early naps.  Around 10am we noticed that he was hot, and indeed he had a fever.

Poor little guy hasn't really felt like himself all day, but that did make for some good cuddling.  He's still got a fever this evening as he went to bed..hopefully it'll break overnight.

Despite not feeling 100%, Danny did discover that the toaster oven door goes up and down.  How exciting!  He's really into opening/closing things these days.

Also we went to Oahu last weekend for a fun little trip.  I was there for a conference and the boys came along with me.  We didn't take too many pictures, but we got a couple cute ones.

Here's Danny saying "doo" as the airplane landed.  I just think it's awesome how he purses his lips out so far when he says it.  It's what I tell my singers to do all the time.

A little embarrassing, but we like certain chain restaurants, so here we are enjoying a meal at Chili's, which we don't have on Maui haha.

We went back to an awesome udon place in Waikiki.  Last time we had been there I was just 9 (or so) weeks pregnant.  It's an awesome little place!  You have to wait in line outside, but the service is awesome and the food is even better so it's worth the wait.

We went to a choral concert as part of my conference.  Got to hear high school groups from Oahu.

We also got to visit a zoo, which we don't have on Maui.  Danny liked these like African penguins the best.

Love this one.

It was a fun weekend (last weekend).  We're hoping Daniel feels better tomorrow so we can get some fun in since today was kind of a bust.  Gray, cloudy, and sick.  Blah.

Putting Off Sleep

What should you do when it's past your bed time and you don't want to sleep?  Pull everything out of your drawers of course!

Soup for Supper

Well I'm overdue for a post about our trip to Oahu last weekend, but in the mean time...soup!

We had grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup for supper tonight.  Daniel enjoyed both!

It was his second dinner really.  About an hour before our dinner he had some mixed veggies, avocado, and chicken.

I wasn't expecting to give him the soup, but I decided to give him a taste.  He had a classic reaction to his first bite, as if I had given him lemon.  But then he kept wanting more and more.

It was bowl-lickin' good!

Stopping to say hi to the horses while walking on Thompson Road.  We had a mostly cloudy, windy, and rainy weekend but had a great afternoon of blue sky and sun today.

That's all for this weekend.  I'm trying to get a good video of Danny standing, which he's been doing more and more of.  Problem is that when I try to take a video, he wants to grab my phone, lunges forward, and in turn falls over.  Oh well.

Maui Tropical Plantation

For this weekend's field trip, we went to the Maui Tropical Plantation.  Can't believe we haven't been there before.  It's beautiful grounds complete with ducks and fish to feed, grass to crawl on, photo ops everywhere you look, and best of all...it's completely free!  They have a nice looking restaurant there too that we might try to check out someday when we go on dates again.

It was a fun adventure.  We'll be going back other mornings because we discovered they sell delicious smelling coffee for a good price.  

It's definitely nice to still find new places despite being on this tiny little island for 3 years already.  Keeps things fresh.  Having a kiddo helps with that since it opens doors to places we wouldn't have gone without a kid.

Now for too much food while we watch the Super Bowl!

Friday + Saturday

We went to the fancy park after school today.  We played in the grass and went on the slides and swings.

Daniel does this thing where he likes to stand up and then basically fall/leap/reach forward over you.  I accidentally took a picture of it mid-leap and it's awesome.

We got some quality swing time in.

Friday night I had a rehearsal at school, so after the park we really didn't do much.

Today (Saturday) started off pretty early again today...It was the 2nd day in a row of 4am playtime.

By the time we had taken turns getting up to play and then all napped again, we didn't get out of bed to start the day for real until 9:00.  I simultaneously felt like I had wasted my morning and that I had woken up wayy too early.

We decided to use a gift card and go to Starbucks for a treat.

Later in the day we went to the driving range.

This evening I had to play piano for a performance at school while Tom had to pick up a friend from the airport.  Danny got to stay up late and hang out with the big kids back stage while I played.

He also got to play with the light board and press lots of buttons, but I don't have a picture of that.

Today we also went to a new clothing exchange and ordered our anniversary present.  After 3 years, we finally got our wedding certificate (which most of you reading this probably signed!) framed.  It will be ready for pick up in a couple weeks and I can't wait to see it!

Oh and one more Daniel note - he's really starting to figure out this whole standing thing!  It's crazy how much progress he's made this week and even just today.  He can stand by himself for about 10 seconds now.  Doesn't seem like much, but it feels like it.  Crazy!
