Ducks! Playgrounds! Fish!
Daniel and I were bummed to have to take Tom to the airport to head to Japan on Saturday morning, but we did our best to make the most of the weekend.
First stop...ducks, of course!
After having the easiest time putting him down for a nap (not kidding), we headed to the park! Daniel ran around for a good hour and went down more slides than I can count.
Went to school for a little while for last minute vocal coaching for some singers before opening night of the play. Daniel was a good audience member until he tried to make an entrance. Good thing it was just rehearsal!
Today was another playground!
And after a nap for the record books (seriously, about 3 hours and the easiest time putting him to bed), we went to the aquarium with some friends.
Kiddo went nuts, but it was awesome!
And finally, learning to spell his name while I made dinner...
So now you know, D-a-n-i-e-l spells Mama!

Forks
This is more just a funny anecdote, mostly so we can look back on this and remember..
Every night after dinner Daniel clears the table. One of us sits at the table while the other stands at the sink. One by one, Daniel takes our forks, plates, etc from the table to the sink.
Last night we had quesadillas for dinner and had no forks. When it came time to clear the table, he was very intent on clearing the forks first, as he always does (boy, do we like routine). After trying to explain that there were none, he decided to solve the problem himself. He walked to the drawer, grabbed a clean fork, and then put it in the sink.
Hahaha. I don't know why but it cracked us up!

Singin' Songs
Daniel's favorite part of "If You're Happy and You Know It"
And our progress on the alphabet song. He's getting there if you squint with your ears a bit - ha.

Beach "Walk"
Went for a new walk this morning on the west side. Danny didn't quite walk as much as the rest of us and managed to hitch a ride for a good portion of the trip.
We found a hammock at the Ritz Carleton.
Found some friendly fish!

Bubbles + New Bed!
After a day of beach/pool/outdoor time, we came home and...played outside. It was awesome.
After a couple of weeks of REALLY bad sleep habits, we finally had a new theory...Danny doesn't like being in his crib. This kid was sleeping so well for months, going to bed no problem, sleeping through the night most nights, etc, then all of the sudden we had two weeks of either fights to go to bed or up for 2 hours in the middle of the night. It was bad. So, after some thinking I realized that I think he doesn't like being trapped in his crib. So, yesterday we did some rearranging and converted a crib into a toddler bed.
He was very excited about the change! So excited that he didn't nap! It was too exciting to be able to get in and out. He did stay in his room quietly for about an hour, so whatever.
We're only one night in, but last night bedtime was a breeze! I couldn't believe it. Went through our normal routine, laid him in bed, and then left. And that was that! Throughout the night I had to go help him get back in bed once after he fell out (onto really thick pillows that were on the floor, don't worry). Then at some point he came into bed with us. BUT we had zero screaming/yelling/scared wake-ups. That is HUGE. I'm knocking on wood, but I hope it works again tonight.
We watched the Super Bowl and ate cupcakes yesterday.
After the Super Bowl we went to the park.
Daniel finally mastered going down the slide "backwards," which means he can now climb up the slide. Oh boy.
A fun weekend!

Soggy Bottom
Sometimes it's a gorgeous day upcountry so you decide to head down the mountain to go to a great playground after school. Turns out it had been raining at said playground.
Oh well!
Oh well!
You can see the original, dry color of his shorts on the right. The rest was completely soaked. Turns out once you get wet, it's not a big deal to keep playing and get more wet. We ended up having a blast.
P.S. It was warm enough out that he wasn't cold.
