It was too hot for clothes on Saturday night!

Daniel learned a new trick this week that he loves to show off.  He loves it so much that it distracts him from napping and sleeping in the car...

Crib

Daniel spent his first night in the crib last night!  It was pretty unplanned.  We were thinking of moving him to his bedroom and the crib once Tom comes home from a trip scheduled Sept 2-9.

However, I got home from musical auditions after 8 last night and Tom had put Danny boy to bed in the crib.  It went well!  At first I thought he only woke up at 1:40am and 4:30am (at which point I moved him back to the bassinet in our room).  This morning I learned he woke up needing a pacifier at 10:40pm.

But still!  That's an improvement!  He had been waking up at 10:30pm for pacifier, 12:30am to eat, 3:00am to eat, and 5:00am to eat.  So I felt QUITE refreshed this morning only having to wake up twice.  That's not to say I didn't just enjoy my second cup of coffee :-).

Musical Auditions

I had musical auditions after school from 3:30-6:00 tonight so Tom picked Daniel up from daycare and brought him up to hang around and say hi to me when I had breaks.

He was happy to play with Dad in the theater.

Then we had a break to go back to my classroom where he took a nap on me on my couch.

It was some much needed cuddle time for me!

Kanaha Beach

Today's swimming adventure....the beach!

Someone was excited!

 We went to a great beach park, about 10 minutes away from home.  It's a beautiful shady park, right on the beach.  Great if you're going with a baby who can't be in the sun for awhile.  Also it was nice at cool in the shade.

Daniel went into the water for the first time.  He cried a bit, but we soon discovered that was because he was hungry.  He went in twice for about 30 seconds each time.

Swimming Pool!

We took Daniel to the pool for the first time today!  He wasn't too sure about it at first, but he warmed up to it.  We got a few smiles, though none on camera.  He didn't cry or complain, I think he was just trying to figure out what was going on.

He even started kicking a little bit.

I think we were in the water for about a full 15 minutes!  Luckily the pool is in the park next to our house and it's free.  Once we buy him a bigger sun shirt, we'll have to go back.

New Trick

4 Months!

You know what this means...

We had the 4 month check up today and got some more shots.  Besides the scary vaccines, everything went quick well.  He's still HUGE, though part of me thinks the measurements are give or take a few inches/pounds.  He weighed in at 18.75 pounds and 26 inches!  

He's a strong, healthy, and happy kiddo!  We got the green light to start solid foods, though I think we'll wait a little while longer.  I'm in no rush and he doesn't seem to be either.  

He came to work with my for a couple hours after his appointment.  He's been acting pretty normal, though he's passed out right now and I think he has a bit of a fever.

Rainbow

Schad boys at the Seabury welcome back faculty/family party.  The rainbow was a double rainbow, which you can hardly tell in the picture.  It was gorgeous.

He doesn't look extremely happy in this picture.  To be fair, he normally naps after daycare, but yesterday instead of going home, he and Tom went to my classroom and hung out while I had a meeting.  Then we went to a faculty party.  He actually fell asleep in the middle of the loud party but only for 20 minutes or so.  This picture was on our way to the car and he was just exhausted...plus the sun was in his eyes.

Also happy 4 months to our little (huge) bean.  I think Tom took some pictures of him today, but I was at a student council retreat all day and haven't had a chance to go through them.

Saturday Photos

We had a great morning.  First we slept in until 7:15!  Woo!

We headed to a "family day" at Hui No'eau, which is an art exhibit/studios on a beautiful historic property.  

After running lots of Saturday errands, Danny was happy to come home and be out of his carseat.

Dad was being pretty silly and made us laugh.

Daycare

Say, Danny, what did you think about your first week of daycare?

That good, huh?  You look like you've been eating a lot.  Would you agree?

Thought so. 

First week of daycare was great!  I picked him up at noon on the first two days and 3 the past few days.  Liana (our daycare lady) said he was really mellow and easy on the first day.  Since then she said he's had really good days and is becoming even more observant each day.  He just loves to watch at the older kids.  The older kids love him, too!  Each day when I drop him off they get excited and say "Baby!  Daniel! Baby, baby!" So cute.  We couldn't be happier with our daycare so far!

One Year

Exactly one year ago today we found out we were going to have a baby!  While we wanted to shout it from the rooftops, we kept it secret for a couple months...which seemed like forever!

This is my first pregnancy picture, from the day we found out, August 3, 2015.

And my last pregnancy picture, taken the night before Daniel was born.

Okay, I lied.  This is actually my last pregnancy picture.  In labor at the hospital, sometime in the wee hours of the morning on April 13, probably around 1am.

I look so amused at the idea of having my picture taken at such a time haha.
