Nana and Grand-dad head to Maui on Thursday night.  We spent some time getting ready for their visit today!

Chicken Chase + Laughing

We went to a park for awhile today and Danny was enthralled with the chicks.  He was trying to chase them all around...for awhile.  He kept laughing a bit as he was getting closer to them too.  You can't hear that on the video, but it was awesome.

When we came home, Tom took care of Danny while I cleaned the living room a bit.  I kept hearing a super dorky laugh, and had to go see what all the fuss was about.

He sounds like he's laughing about a calculus pun or something.  So dorky but also pretty cute.  This joke is continuing into Danny's dinner time.  Sweet potatoes, broccoli, and "GAH!"

Thanksgiving

We had an early start to our Thanksgiving.  About 4:30 am.  We gave up and got out of bed at 5:30.  By 7am, we had made biscuits, bacon, eggs, and cheese sauce (oh, and coffee, duh) and gotten Danny down for a nap.

We went to a super fancy, fun playground.  Danny tried the swing for the first time!

He was a fan!

While it may seem that he's bald, and he mostly is, there is some proof that he has some hair.  I crack up when the wind messes it up.

We came home from the park, cleaned our room for the first time in forever, and I made a pumpkin pie and a sweet potato pie.  Here's a picture of the pumpkin.  The crust isn't beautiful, the crust on my sweet tater was prettier.  Oh well.  It tasted good!

Danny wore a ridiculously cute outfit for about 20 minutes.  The khakis didn't really lend themselves to crawling, so we ditched them.

He was pooped after going to a potluck Thanksgiving.  Lots of babies and adults to interact with...it's a lot of work.  So we came home around 6 and he fell asleep right away basically.

All in all, a good Thanksgiving on Maui.

Out to Dinner

Sitting in a high chair at dinner.  We forgot a toy, so I handed him his pants to play with instead..

It was awesome to be at a restaurant and have both hands free.  Accessibility to high chairs will now be considered when deciding where to eat.

It's the weekend!

Ear Infection + Crawling!

Little bugger has an ear infection so we get our first try at antibiotics.  Poor bean.

After his doctor appointment this morning, Danny came to school with me for a couple hours before Tom could come get him and take him home for the afternoon.  It's not ideal to have him at school when he's sick, but we literally had no other option.

My advisement threw me a belated birthday party today and Danny was the center of attention.  Luckily he's feeling pretty good..usually.  He decided to take a few steps at actually crawling rather than scooting.

Pretty fun!  Now he's home with Tom sleeping.  Once I'm done with work (at the early hour of 3:30!!!), I'll get to go home and cuddle with him.  I'm also taking tomorrow morning off to stay home with him.  I was looking forward to more Danny time, but I would have preferred him to be healthy.

Sick Day

Well we made it 7 months before the boy got sick.  He had a cough starting Wednesday, kept him home from daycare on Thursday, and then spent the weekend trying to get him better.  But alas, I got a call from daycare this morning saying I needed to come pick him up.

After fighting to take a nap for 2.5 hours, we finally agreed on a comfy napping position.

Just like old times!  Though he used to be a lot smaller when he napped on me! 

Anyway, we've got an appointment with the doctor tomorrow morning just to make sure it's just a cold and not an ear infection or anything.  Poor little guy.

Green Grass

Fresh air does you good.  So we packed our sick selves up and went to play in some grass today.  We all felt better.

This little toot is 7 months old today.  Whaat?

All he wants to do lately is stand..and climb.

Oh and finally, my birthday dessert.  Ridiculous chocolate peanut butter pie.  Seriously rich and delightful.

Getting settled for a nap now takes a crazy amount of time because every time you think he's pretty much asleep, he somehow stands up and acts all happy and cute.

Thing 2

Halloween 2015...

Compared to the same time in 2016...

What a difference a year makes.

Uh Oh..

Danny and I got to spend the morning together yesterday because there was no daycare.  It was a blast!  I've determined that working part time is perfect.  I got to spend all morning with him, put away laundry, sanitized bottles, and made dinner.  Then I got to go teach kids in the afternoon.  Perfection.

He was full of milestones yesterday.  He can now go from lying down to sitting up by himself.  I went to get him from his nap and he was sitting in the crib.  He also took two crawling steps that weren't scoots.  Scooting is still his fastest method of moving though.  But, he also was climbing all over everything and pulling to stand.

This morning while he was in his crib as we got ready for the day, he managed to do this...

He's on his knees in the picture, but for about 5 seconds, he got up onto his feet.  Then he toppled over, thankfully not hitting his head on anything but his mattress.

We now have a whole new level of surfaces we need to keep clear.  And we need to somehow remind him that he's not as strong as he thinks and he can fall backwards very easily.

Now for election day.  Danny went to the polls with me this morning to cast our vote!  We didn't get a sticker, but we got this slip from the bottom of my ballot.  It was fun to eat!

And finally, the picture I was going to post with a caption about Danny's excitement about Hillary's win.  But now that's looking like it's not going to happen.  So instead I'll post it with a caption about how no matter who this country decides to elect as president, I know that we am raising a happy, caring, generous, kind, and thoughtful kid.
