Babyproofing

Daniel took a spill and fell head first into the wall/outlet, leaving a decent bump on his noggin.  His response, "yeah, well, you should see the other guy.."

Apparently a hard head can break an outlet cover...who knew?

Weekend Update

We tried to go to the pool yesterday, but the baby and kids' pools were both closed!  We didn't feel comfortable taking him in the deeper lap pool, so we went home to wash the car instead.  Daniel appears to have enjoyed it.

We spent some time at the beach today.  The water was stunningly perfect and we had so much fun that we didn't take any pictures really.  Daniel was much more comfortable in the water today than he was the other week.  He also started lying down on the beach as if he was trying to sun himself, it was super cute.

We also had some time to hit a hotel pool (and waterslide for the adults!) before heading to Barnes and Noble.

Finally, this evening Daniel found the laundry basket and immediately asked for a ride.  My rides are often just here to there, but Tom really takes things to the next level.

A great weekend!

Ukulele

These pictures were taken through a computer screen as we were video chatting while Tom was away.  Despite the pixel-y nature of the photos, they're some of my very favorites of the two of us recently.

Daniel is learning to strum while I change chords.  And Baby just sits there to enjoy the music..

I've said it once, but I'll say it again...can we just freeze time?!

Look Who's Home!

After a week+ of Tom/Dada being gone for the solar eclipse and a conference, we're super happy to have him home!  He came in late last night and Danny was so excited that he woke up at 2 and stayed awake for almost an hour.

This evening we enjoyed a Schad happy hour outside on our driveway.  Classy.

All of our moods have greatly improved!

AND I had an awesome week teaching and ended on a really high note with my last two classes.  Yeehaw!

Hats

Danny had a kind, but strong opinion about how he should wear his hat(s) this morning.

So this is how it all starts doesn't it?  Pretty soon he'll be wearing ridiculous, self chosen toddler outfits.

Sprinklers

We went outside to play right as the sprinklers were turning on yesterday evening.  Perfect timing, a toddler might say.

After just a couple of minutes, he was soaked but oh so happy.

Tables and Chairs

This kid just really loves sitting in chairs.

And on an unrelated note he got his head stuck in the supports of a picnic table at daycare on Thursday.  Has a bruise on his neck to prove it...

Oy.

Lei

I had a concert this afternoon and Tom graciously brought Daniel.  Together they watched about 2 measures of the concert.  They ended up playing outside the concert hall the entire concert.

When we got home, Daniel was pretty excited to put on my lei.

Beach

I was trying to figure out why it was so quiet on our car ride yesterday.  Opened the door to see him reading a book.

Had a little Sunday morning beach time today.  Daniel definitely loves the beach...more than the ocean.  He'll happily go into the water with us but after about 30 seconds, he's ready to go sit on the sand again.  He loves to sit in just a little bit of water.

More videos

Apparently this is becoming a video blog, but oh well!

Daniel is such a good helper right now (can we freeze this age please?).  How do we keep this trait as he gets older?  It's so awesome.  He always puts his chair away after he eats, when he spills milk he runs to the kitchen to grab a towel and then wipes it up, he loves to help sweep, etc.  Even today after playing with my shoes, we couldn't leave the house until he put the shoes back in the bedroom.  What the heck!?  Trying to enjoy this while it lasts and keep giving him jobs so that it becomes a part of his routine.

Anyway, here he is simultaneously sweeping and swatting flies.

He's also obsessed with shoes.  His shoes, my shoes, Tom's shoes, doesn't matter.  Apparently at daycare when they go outside and other kids take their shoes off, Danny just goes over and puts them on.  This morning he found some of my work shoes and was walking all over.  Pretty darned cute.

Seriously, can we freeze time?

That's Bananas!

I'm not sure what he was making last night, but he needed two liquid measures and a cheese grater.

Is this how you use a fork?

Saying "banana."  I sort of hope he keeps saying it this way until he's 30.

Hard at work

Daniel helped me out with prepping the BBQ for Freshmen Orientation today.  I was putting some things away and I came out and he was doing this...

He honestly was taking those bags of Gatorade mix back and forth for at least 5 minutes.  It was awesome.

Book in the Drawer

Likely about the tallest and skinniest that you'll ever see this kid.

And just a cute one.

A few gems over the past few weeks

Its true...Molly is a rock star at keeping this blog going!  For a change up, here's old Dad as a contributor, in particular to assemble a few gems from the past few weeks.

Like this one.  Molly's been in rehearsal on Thursday nights this summer, which means Dad has to brave bath time on his own.  Daniel and I have to bear the time away, and sometimes Danny just looks at me all puzzled like...

But we like making funny faces and sending pics to Mom to distract her.

and anytime we can make a mess of the joint...that's good too.

In other randomness, ol Danny boy decided to strut his best Mom impression, beach hat and all.  Turns out that a tanktop works out to be pretty much a dress when you are only two feet tall.

He was enjoying himself though...

In the past few weeks, ol Dad got jealous of all the time Mama and Daniel got to spend together.  They had all kinds of awesome outings while I was locked away at work.  But then on the weekends I get to join in on the fun too.  Like Maui Plantation and the ducks!

Danny really could sit on that bench for tens of minutes (that's a long time!)

And finally, things got exciting this week when Mom brought home a new stool so that Daniel could reach the counter.  Now he's ready to get cooking!
