Walkin' Outside

We spent a lot of time walking outside today.  This morning we went to the Maui Tropical Plantation to walk around (and get some really good coffee).

It was REALLY exciting!  Ha.

Oh, and we took a ton of pictures!  Love the excitement in his eyes in this next one.

A serious shot..

Later this afternoon we went on a favorite hike/walk of ours.  We went at a 1 year old pace today, so it was more of a short/slow/exciting adventure!

There were so many sticks to pick up!  Looked like Daniel was trying to figure out how to make a fire.

If you don't like watching 2 minute videos of other people's kids walking around randomly (and I wouldn't blame you), then skip this video.  Honestly, nothing happens except our kid is walking in the woods.  But if that kind of thing sounds entertaining to you, then by all means, watch away!

New Pool

Today we went to the pool in Kihei instead of the one right next to our house in Pukalani.  I'd heard rumors that there was a splash pad there and wanted to check it out.

No splash pad really, but there was this cool fountain thing in the kiddie pool.

Plus this kiddie pool is much better than the one in Pukalani...cleaner, more shallow, bigger.

Daniel had a blast.

When we made him get out to take a break, he pretty much just sat there and stared at the fountain.

He loves jumping in the pool.

Super fun Sunday!

Bookworm

This kiddo has been obsessed with books lately.  It's awesome.  He will just bring us book after book to read.  He's also pretty content to sit and read to himself too.  It's probably his favorite way to spend his time these days.

Survival!

We survived our first night with mama away from home!  I had to chaperone the final night of senior trip last night and everyone made it to work/daycare today in one piece.  I'm working on an hour of sleep, but oh well, it's the last day of school, guess I don't need to be totally with it.

I got home at 5:30 this morning to get ready for the day.  While we were brushing our teeth, I looked away for 10 seconds.  Daniel got ahold of the toilet paper.

Hilarious!  Couldn't help but laugh about that one!

Golfing

Not many photos to post from today, but we had a lot of fun time outside today.  Went to a new park this morning, had a nice long play in our kiddo pool on the patio, and went to the driving range.  This picture is a different angle than normal while we were golfing.

Saturday

Tom is in Hilo for a conference today, so Daniel and I had the day to ourselves.  We made the most of it by waking up at 5am - yahoo!

Danny showed off his new skill of stacking blocks.  Funny how he has his concentration face, as if he's focusing so much on the task at hand that he forgets to close his mouth.

We went to the library where they have both a box of stuffed animals AND Danny sized stools on wheels - perfect for pushing every which way!

I made a $2.00 toy storage spot for his room!  Okay, I just like the alliteration, the laundry baskets were $1 each, but when you add the command hooks, it brings our total to $5.00.  Still...awesome!

After some napping (and work around the house for me), we were off to the park!

Then Daniel fed himself some yogurt...

All that with lots of playing at home too.  It's been a full day and we're ready to go get Tom from the airport soon!

Boxcar

Daniel got to hang out at Seabury again yesterday.  Those days are SO fun for him and the kids, but also exhausting for me (and Daniel).

He got to have some fun in a box.

I love how good my students are with him.  They are legitimately helpful in keeping him safe, entertained, and happy.  Watching them interact is one of my favorite things.

That said, after a day of interaction after interaction, Daniel is happy to come home to some peace and quiet.

No Pants Party

Nevermind the acres of grass at the edge of this sidewalk, I better plop down right here to play with these couple blades of grass.

In this next one, as I was trying to get him to walk to the car since my arms were full, he either wants to run away and have me keep up...or he knows the dining hall is that way!

Sticks

You know what's more fun than the playground?

A stick!

Probably my happiest moment of the day was when Daniel left the playground area to find this stick.  He then was perfectly content playing with it and banging it on the ground.

Then when we went to the store afterwards, he pointed to every stuffed animal, balloon, and ball and said "dat!" very excitedly.  Oh man, it's so hard not to spoil your kiddo!  But I was good, I didn't buy him any treats!  No need when you have a stick anyway.

Popper Fun

Every kid needs this classic toy, right?

We scored this one for 50 cents at the Seabury craft fair/rummage sale on Saturday.  Admittedly I ended up paying $2.50 for it because of a good guilt trip, but still, a score!

Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day present was that Daniel slept until 6:50am.  Yahoo!

Tom made us an awesome breakfast of stuffed french toast.

Danny had leftover oatmeal and grits rather than french toast.  He wasn't too happy about it.  Kidding, he was fussing in this picture because I wasn't giving him grits fast enough.

Then we went to the beach for the first time since Daniel learned to walk.  We had a blast!

In the afternoon, we grilled some chicken and zucchini and made baked beans.  Yummm!

After dinner we had time to go the park, which Danny just thought was the most awesome thing ever.  Overall we had a really awesome and relaxing day.
