These Kids..

I tell ya.  They crack me up.

I mean, look at this face haha.

I can't take it.

Miss Heidi June is becoming quite the talker, probably trying to keep up in our rambunctious house.

We have entered the "I can do it myself" stage of toddlerhood.  Today that included finding a shirt and shorts.  And no person was going to convince him to change either!

And while he was proud of his fashion choices, he could sense something was missing..

Ah yes, a backwards bike helmet really completed the look.

Heidi is working hard on learning to laugh.  Usually giggles are reserved for dad, but today she gave me something close.

Happy Friday!

Lately

Phew!  Been a busy couple of days.   On Sunday evening I took Daniel out for my first "run" in about a year.  Yikes.  He's ridden in a stroller about 3 times in his life so he thought it was fun
He's a good coach too, always encouraging me to go faster.

The past two days I've been watching our friends daughter during the day.  She and Daniel are good buds, but they're also two..

We spent a lot of time making a lot of messes (mostly Daniel) so today I decided to just steer into the curve and make soft pretzels with these two assistants.  Heidi would have helped but she was in the ergo.

After a nap, we spent a good hour playing with water.

We got a gift from a coworker of Tom's today...this incredible pastel drawing of Heidi.  I was speechless.  Of course this picture of it in a frame doesn't do it justice.  I want to commission one of Daniel now.

Here is the photo I believe it's based off of.   Amazing.

That's all for now!

Hurricane Lane

Well old Lane was threatening to really make a hit on Maui so we've had an odd few days.  We did some hurricane prep on Tuesday night and Wednesday.  Schools were out Wednesday so Daniel got to play with Aiden for 3 hours in the morning.

I actually got to sit outside and drink coffee, play ukulele, and smile with Heidi for awhile as they played.

Later Daniel tried to get his sister to smile for a picture.

Then things started to get silly when we discovered a baby toy could be used as a suction cup.

Ow!

So far no hurricane.  Forecast then said Thursday was the day it would hit.  Tom didn't have to work and we had to stay home and inside most of the day.  Luckily we got out between rains.

Still no hurricane.

Attempt #4,398 for the day to occupy the toddler - pick up all the flowers you see and put them in your bucket.

Friday was more waiting around for the hurricane, which had been downward from 5 to 3 and eventually 2 and then a Tropical Storm.

Here's a pathetic face from a kiddo wearing a bow.  This one might end up in his senior year yearbook if he's not careful.

We aren't used to being stuck in the house so much.  We pulled out all the tricks - including paint.

We never lost power, didn't have crazy wind, and only had gentle rain on and off.  We were lucky as it could have been much worse.  That said we're very much looking forward to actually getting out of the house for real tomorrow.

That's all for now.

Birthdays and Aquarium

Not sure why Daniel thinks having all his stuffed animals and blankets thrown on top of him is so hilarious.

Daniel was invited to a birthday party on Sunday.  He loved everything about it.  Cupcakes, bounce house, pool, slip n slide, oh my!

We finally bought a pass for the aquarium.  I took the kiddos yesterday (Heidi not pictured cause she was in the ergo the whole time).  Daniel had a blast.  He kept running around saying "Hey, look at this!"  We were there for a good two hours.  It was super fun for all of us.  Looking forward to going back now that we have a pass.

This is his pirate face.

Had to go to school to help with musical auditions.  Daniel sat in his seat and ate broccoli and black beans while cheering the kids on.  Heidi slept through a lot of it.

Some tummy time today.
