Long Weekend Adventures

Every weekend should be four days long!  Holy moly - what a great time we've had!

Daniel got this super cool new magnetic fishing puzzle on Friday.  He figured it out in about .0004 seconds and it's his new favorite.  He's played with it all weekend for extended periods of time (toddler time, that is).

On Saturday morning I had a rehearsal in Makena, which is about 45 minutes from home.  While I was singing, Daniel and Tom went on all sorts of adventures!  They saw a koi pond at a resort..

Saw a Christmas tree at some shops..

Resort lounge chairs..

And finally, came back to the church where I was rehearsing for the last few minutes of rehearsal.

Today we did a similar adventure since I had missed such a good time the day before.  We walked along beaches/resorts.

One resort had these really awesome swings!

And even more awesome outdoor bed/reading nook things that I didn't really get a good picture of.  But this is me lying in the nook looking out.

After 2 hours of walking around exploring, we needed some french fries!

One more stop at another beach to look around.

Then we raced back to the car to head home!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Really just didn't take any photos today, but it was a good day.  But first, let's back up.

No daycare yesterday and no classes at Seabury, so Daniel came to work with me.  It was a cold and rainy one!

It was Shakespeare day at school, so Daniel got to sit and watch some Shakespeare scenes put on my the sophomores.

Earlier today, Daniel was reading a book to us.  He gets the idea of the book, but doesn't quite get that you have to turn the book around in order to see the animal that he is pretending to be.  Regardless, pretty cute if you ask me.

We spent Thanksgiving with a couple of colleagues of mine at Seabury.  We took pumpkin pie, corn pudding, and roasted fennel/carrots.  It was a delicious meal with fun/crazy kids running around!

Now we're looking forward to a long weekend of no work!

Sunday morning park time!  We had the place all to ourselves!

Not unlike his mother, this kid cracks himself up...

Extreme Cheese

We had an early morning selfie session today.

This boy LOVES throwing his head back, closing his eyes, and saying "CHEEEEESE."  We get some extreme cheese in our pics now.

Please ignore how many toys are on the floor.

Then, because Daniel woke up at 5:30 and because I had a gift card, we went to get a fancy drink at Starbucks before school.  Toddler dates are the BEST.

Birthday Weekend

We had a good 3 day birthday weekend on Maui.  Don't have any exceptional photos, but oh well.

We were in Costco (of course) and Danny thought it was so hilarious to pick up and put down the little seat next to him.  He was clapping and saying "yay!" very loudly.  I only caught the very end on video.  Hilarious.

We were up bright and early on Saturday morning because Tom ran a 10k.

Daniel and I walked around fancy hotels during the time Tom was running.  Danny found this horse statue and excitedly said "up!"  Too cute!

We got back to the finish line just in time to see Tom cross!

Of course we had to take a quick trip to see the ducks.  Danny just laid right down at the edge of the pond to get a close up.

He also thought it was hilarious to sit on balls this weekend and try to balance?

Dinner on Saturday was peppercorn crusted fillet mignon with rosemary butter, roasted brussels sprouts, and hassleback potatoes.  It was ridiculously good, cheaper than going out, and fun to spend some time cooking.  Plus we ate after Danny went to bed...sorry kid.

Dessert was white cake with almond and raspberry filling.

Unfortunately Tom had to leave for a work trip mid day Sunday.  It was a bummer, but Danny decided to take me out for a second birthday dinner on Sunday.  We went to get pizza at our favorite place.

Overall a fun weekend.  Plus I have leftover pizza to eat for dinner tonight!

Sick Day

We got the dreaded text from daycare yesterday saying we needed to go pick Daniel up.  No fever or anything, just some congestion so I had to bring him to school for a period before we did the old exchange.

Does that look like the face of someone who is sick!?

Pretty sure he's just fine.  A little cough but not so bad.  He's back at daycare today and we haven't heard anything.  Fingers crossed.

Sunday

Yesterday we went to this truck gathering event type thing where kids could climb in all kinds of utility and emergency vehicles.  It was kind of weird, but we were there with friends so it was pretty fun.

Also I made an apple cranberry almond pie yesterday.  The results weren't as perfect as I had hoped cause it needed a few more minutes in the oven, but even a bad pie is still pretty good.

This is the crust with a layer of homemade almond paste on top.  Ohhhhh yeah.

Trucks and pies.  What more do you need?

Light Reading

Just some light Thursday night reading.  We were in the middle of reading lots of books and this is the next "book" Danny picked out to read.

Like a good mom, I told him that he had to ask Tom to read it to him.

November!?

What the heck!  How is it November?  This is getting ridiculous..

Here are some pictures from Halloween!  Due to our crazy schedule, costumes were very last minute and 100% thrown together with things we had lying around.

We left for LA last week Wednesday.  Got back Monday morning and then I had to go teach in the afternoon.  Yikes.  We had a great time visiting family and going to Ed and Heather's wedding.  Unfortunately, we were pretty busy and I didn't take many pictures at all!  Ugh.

On Sunday we got to go to Manhattan Beach.  Daniel thought it was fun to swim in the sand.

My celebrities checking in!

Like I said, not many pictures from the wedding.  Something about chasing a toddler and trying to keep him quiet during church and all that...

But, the couple I did get from the reception were of Daniel LOVING the band!  He mainly wanted to stand and watch them rather than dance with me, but it was still pretty cute.

Thankfully there was a back room at the reception and the kiddos found the stash of dinosaurs!

The backroom was necessary for naps at the beginning of the reception.

On the way from the ceremony to the reception.

Crazy cute cousin pic!

The Keck Effect billboard!

And finally, some old ones from Maui that I haven't posted.

Nothing like early morning shirtless coloring.
