Summer Vacation

Today is the last work day of summer vacation for Danny :-(.  He starts daycare on Monday.  I don't officially go back to work until August 10 or so, but I wanted to ease him (and me) into daycare with half days.  Plus I have a TON of work to do in my classroom before the 10th.

I'm sad!  Not sure how I'm going to leave this face in the morning.

But it's just an adjustment and then we'll find our new normal.  And if nothing else, I'll get to come home to a happy baby just like Tom does each day :-)

Walk in the Woods

Okay, this could be the kind of thing that I find hilarious, but it's really not that funny.  So knowing that...

While Daniel and I were sitting outside waiting for Tom to come home from work, he gchatted me to ask if we wanted to go for a hike/walk.  I decided to take a picture of the boy and me as a response.

And it cracked me up.

Daniel is displeased...

I think it's a combination of my excitement and his look of disgust that just cracks me up.  Anyway, we went for a beautiful walk and the little one had a great time.

Gloating

This little boy spent about 20 minutes in his crib quietly looking out the window.  No fussing or scooting (his new thing), just hanging out.  Then he started to complain a bit.  So I whipped out the ol' bag of tricks to get him to nap, and he just wasn't having it.

I took him into our bedroom to lie down with me and nurse a bit.  Clearly he was pretty proud of himself and thinking he won this battle :-)  He decided to gloat a little bit..

But, judging by this next picture, it's safe to say Mama was right...he was indeed ready for a nap.

Furniture Shopping

"Somebody help!  My mama is making me go furniture shopping for her classroom.  I'm stuck at Office Max."

Poor little guy.  Don't we all remember being dragged around on boring errands with our moms?  Though I do remember one furniture store my mom took us to had warm cookies!  A definite plus!

Overalls

Aunt Maggie gave us a lot of pretty cute hand me downs.  Today we tried on these overalls just for fun.

They were a hit!

Though admittedly, we rarely dress Daniel in such clothes.  It's a lot of work to get those on and off and it's too warm these days.  We had a storm this weekend though, so he actually wore pants for the first time in awhile.

Friday Afternoon

Just some Friday afternoon fun.

Followed by some wrestling/tummy time on Alphabear.

Trying to eat the bear.  Grrrrr.

I think he looks a bit more like a Keck in this picture than he has previously.  I think he looks like Uncle Andy and/or cousins on the Yerkes side of the family.

Morning Stroll

It's unclear how much we really needed to buy sunglasses and how much I'm a new mom who fell for something I read.  But what is clear is how cute this boy looks in his shades!

Early Morning Faces

Daniel wakes up at 6am, ready to play!

And then Dad suggests that he should make the coffee and bring it to us in bed..

Me?!  Make coffee??  Crazy talk!

Melting My Heart

Just some photos of my boys melting my heart, as usual.

This next one is out of focus, but the joy on this kid's face is infectious!

This was right after we got home from dropping Grandma and Grandpa off at the airport after a great visit.  Daniel was a little bit sad to see them go.

I love that even though he's getting so big, he still snuggles up into a little ball sometimes.

Shades

It was suggested to me that if you live near the equator and are outside a lot (Maui much?), you should buy real sunglasses for your baby.  Not just decorative ones, but ones with actual protection.  Wanting to protect those baby blues, I bought him a pair.

It's kind of ridiculous, but kind of awesome.

He pretty much smiled the entire time he had them on.  For now.  Let's hope this lasts and he doesn't end up just throwing them off when ever we put them on.

Blue Eyes

Beach Bod

Well this 3-6 month sized rash guard was a waste of money.  I could barely fit it over his chubby arms this morning.  It looks pretty cute for now though :-).

He sat on the sand and dipped his feet in the water for the first time today.  Can't wait til we can put sunscreen on him and get him in the water for real!

Naps

Well after a week of pretty much only sleeping on my chest for naps, I'm finally learning how to put Daniel down in the crib for his naps.

It definitely takes more time and patience on my part, but once he's asleep I can actually get things done!  Crazy!

He still sleeps in his bassinet next to our bed at night, but I imagine we'll transition him to the crib at night pretty soon.  He's growing up too darned fast!

Wrestling

Our boy seems to love wrestling this giant, funny looking teddy bear we were given.

Boys will be boys.

4th of July Weekend

Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend.  I have pictures from the parade and other things, but I don't feel like going through them just yet.  So this is an abridged version of our weekend.

Ready to head to the parade!

This morning we went for a walk on Thompson Road.  A lady stopped and asked if we wanted our picture taken.  After explaining to her how to take a picture with our camera, I found out she is a professional photographer.

Thompson Road.
She then told us to kiss the baby.  I was almost thinking she was going to do a whole photo shoot with us.

Today I picked my first (of hopefully many) tomato from our plant on the patio!
