Presents from Aunt Maggie

We got a box of goodies from Aunt Maggie and crew yesterday, including lots of new PJs and a car toy!

We took a family selfie at bedtime to show off these super cute new jammers.

This morning Daniel actually sat and played with his car while I made coffee and got his bottles ready.  The car is a hit!

MLK Beach Day

Phew!  We had an awesome MLK day yesterday.  We woke up surprisingly late - around 8:00 I think!  Yahoo!  We decided to pack it up and head out for a beach day, relatively first thing.

Danny enjoyed sitting on the sand with us and letting the waves splash him.  After he got used to the water temp, he didn't mind going in the water, though he's very cautious and a bit nervous in the ocean.  I'm okay with that.

We spent a lot of time up on the grass in the shade of our tent.  We tried to convince Danny to take a nap, with no luck.

Even though we had an awesome tent set up, Danny much preferred to crawl outside in the sun.  Of course we forgot his hat, but at least he can wear sunscreen now.  I lathered him up multiple times.

We then went to a hotel pool to "clean off."  Danny absolutely loved the kiddie pool!  He could stand (with assistance), the water wasn't too cold, and it was shaded.  He was putting his face in the water trying to blow bubbles and splashing around like crazy!  As Tom said, Daniel is "living a $500/night life with $50/night parents.."  Lucky kid.

After we packed up and headed to lunch, he was so pooped that he stayed sleeping in his carseat through lunch!  He NEVER does that anymore.  He'll fall asleep in the car and then wake up as soon as we stop.  Not today, he was so tired after not napping all morning.

Later on at home, he ate some sweet potatoes and broccoli, which he proceeded to smear everywhere.  I think he ate some, but it seems that mostly he played...

Needless to say, after this meal, he went straight into his third body of water for the day...the bathtub.

We had an awesome day and kiddo slept well last night.  He's going to keep us on our toes as he continues to get older because boy does he have a lot of energy!

Brushing Teeth

Learning to brush teeth...

Am I doing this right?

Between December 13 and January 13, Danny popped 5 (nearly 6) teeth!  Yowza!

And yes, he still is wearing Christmas PJs.  We're running low on PJs that fit.

A Wailea Walk

We went for a walk in Wailea this evening, and it was perfect!

Nothing like that golden hour and watching the sun go down.

The grass in Wailea is well manicured, so Danny had a great time crawling around.

Someone even offered to take a family photo for us!

We should make it a goal to get out and do things like this more often.  We all felt good afterwards!

Pool Time

We went to the pool this morning.  Daniel wasn't too sure about it at first, likely because the water was chilly.  But after a few minutes, he was having a blast.

Then he enjoyed everyone's favorite post-swim snack...broccoli!

9 month stats

Holy cow!  We have a 9 month old.  How on earth did that happen!?

Today's visit to the doctor went quite well.  No shots today but he did have to get blood drawn for a iron and lead test.  He didn't even cry when they pricked his finger (which they had to do twice).

Anyway, here are his stats...

Weight: 22lbs 10oz - 81%
Height: 28 inches - 42%
Head: 17.75 inches - 44%

Looks like our giant baby is starting to even out a bit.  Pictures and more fun stuff coming soon!

Random Tuesday

We're lucky that Daniel isn't much of a fuss, even with 4 visible teeth coming in and I suspect more on the way.  He's a pretty happy kiddo, but that doesn't mean his gums don't hurt.  These teether is a popular choice.  He carries it around with him everywhere while he plays, which cracks me up because it looks like a pipe hanging out of his mouth.

This afternoon he figured out how to open the cabinet where the pots/pans are and starting playing with a pot.  And so it begins!

He's also learning that knocking down towers is fun!!

Danny has also fully learned to say "Mama," which began the first day we were back from our mainland trip.  I'd say it's music to my ears except he only says it when he's whiney/fussy.  "Dada" is for excitement and joy, "Mama" is to complain...I'm already not the fun one.  Oy :-)
