Beach Day

This little bean has already mastered the art of a lazy beach day.  Sleeping in the shade with a great view and even better company!

Two Week Progress

Our Danny-boy had his two week doctor's appointment this morning.  Since leaving the hospital two weeks ago, he's grown an inch and gained two pounds!  He appears to be a healthy, growing boy!

Aunt Emmy got to Maui yesterday and we've been really enjoying her company.  Today we took a short (ish) drive to show her around and ended up at the beach for a couple minutes.  Daniel saw the Pacific for the first time!

The kiddo was a trooper and so far just falls asleep when he's in the car.  We're hoping he keeps that habit!

Fresh and Clean

Daniel lost his umbilical cord stump the other night, so today was his first real bath.  Surprisingly he seemed to really like it!

We now are cuddling with a clean, fed, and seemingly happy baby.  Life is good.

Naive Mama

As we were getting everything ready to head to the hospital around 12:30am, I decided to pack a notepad and pen so I could write down the details and progress of my labor.

I just found the page where I started documenting our experience...

Two entries, both from before we got to the hospital.  On the second entry I literally stopped writing mid-word.  In what world did I think I'd be able to document my labor?  Clearly I had no idea for what I was in for!

Our First Walk

We packed Daniel up in the Ergo for the first time today to take a walk around the neighborhood.

And then here's an oldie but goodie from the day Daniel was born.  This photo is one of my favorites!

Newborn Hearing Screening - Take 2

Daniel failed his newborn hearing screening in his left ear while in the hospital.  Despite being warned that it's not uncommon for babies to fail due to fluid and/or vernix in the ear after birth, Mama was still pretty worried.

We were scheduled for a follow-up screening this morning and are happy to report that he passed in both ears!  Everything looks great and there's nothing to worry about in terms of his hearing.  Phew.

The first week

After receiving some requests for photos of Daniel, we've decided to use this blog as a way to share them with friends and family.  We'll likely still post a picture every now and then on Facebook, but we'll try our best to update this blog more often.  

We realize that not everyone is as obsessed with our little guy as we are, so we don't want to swamp social media.  However, if you like looking at baby pictures, you can check this blog whenever you'd like to see what we've been up to.
