Happy 2nd Birthday!

So we're a day late, but a big Happy Birthday to Daniel!  I think his birthday was pretty great yesterday even though we couldn't really celebrate.  There was unexpectedly no daycare, so he got to come to breakfast at Seabury, go to the pool and park with Dad, lunch at Seabury, and then hang out with his friend Naomi.  At night was the chorus concert at school so he had a good time running around and staying up wayy too late.

He even got some members of my chorus to sing to him while they were eating before the concert.

Today we went to see the ducks and we actually spent the $2 on duck food - that's how you know it's your birthday!

We also got to lie down in the grass and watch the people on the zip line (his favorite thing!)

Tom had to go to a workshop for teachers to train them on new telescopes, so Daniel and I took time to cool off in the library.

He also apparently learned how to "swing" from doors.  Impressively, both his feet are off the ground.

After big naps for a few Schads, we had birthday craziness in the evening!

He was really, really excited about the balloons!  And everything...just really excited.

New Dog is a hit!  Thanks D-S crew!  He read to it tonight and is currently sleeping with it.

He got some really great presents - many thanks to all who sent something.

Blowing out the candles was so much fun, we did it twice!

Overall a pretty great birthday!

Stage Hand

It's the day before my big spring concert and there's no daycare today.  AND our backup babysitter is out of town.  No problem!  Daniel came to school with me this morning and was a great stage hand.

Luckily I didn't have a choir class this morning.  I had piano and they were helping us get the theater ready.  Danny made some new friends.

Then he was invited to go up to the tech grid above the theater/stage.

He was a great help adjusting lights.

You can see the red chairs and the stage/risers down below for some scale of how high it is.  He wasn't scared at all and thought it was awesome.  The grid is cable and so bounces a bit, which he thought was extra exciting.

Then when the work was done, he got to play some percussion instruments.

Luckily Tom is going to take him this afternoon when I have my choirs so I can get some rehearsal in before the big day.  Yeehaw!

New Shoes

Aunt Maggie sent some new shoes and they make Daniel jump really high!

Though the look on his face may seem full of pain, I assure you this is just Daniel saying "CHEEEEEESE" for the camera.

Dreams

Every day I ask Daniel if he's had any dreams.  He always says yes.  Then I ask what he dreamed about.  Without fail, he either answers with "dentist" or "pancakes."  Every. single. day.  I have no idea why.  I don't even think he knows what a dream is, but it cracks me up.

Since Saturday night when we had a special treat of a Costco hot dog for dinner, we've added a third dream option.  "Hotdog for dinner."  That's apparently what he had a dream about on Saturday night and today during his nap.

Can't make this stuff up.
