Portland Trip

Hellooooo spring break!

I've been on spring break for over a week now and it's amazing.  We spent 8 days in Portland visiting the Nortons and the Kecks.  I didn't take just tons of pictures and certainly didn't take any good ones, but here are a few anyway.

Here we are in the airport before our red eye.  Danny enjoying some water, me with some ginger ale.  Danny was very excited to be woken up at 9pm to head down to the airport.  He didn't end up falling asleep again until about 12 or 1am.

A blurry but fun picture of a dance party!

Can't let the rain hold you back in Portland.  Out for a walk in the beautiful rhododendron gardens.

No visit with my folks is complete without a trip to the grocery store.  Here's my dad with two of his favorite things...grand kids and grocery stores!

I love how Daniel is looking up at Samara in this one as if to ask if she knows how to get over the gate.

Tom left for a work trip to Boulder for most of the week.  Danny and I went for another rainy walk and ended up at a cafe.  We decided to have a little date and order some pancakes at 1pm.  It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Danny was a big hit with Samara and the neighbor kids.

On Thursday, Tom came back from his trip and we left for a road trip to central Oregon.  Tom was meeting with some folks at a school regarding the solar eclipse happening in August.

Turns out that road trips with an 11 month old means lots of stops.  We were thankful for playgrounds in small towns!

This is the look I got when we had about 30 miles to go and had been on the road for about 6 hours already.  I had to make it black and white to really emphasize the emotion haha.

The little town of John Day is already excited about the eclipse.  This town of 1,500 (roughly) is expecting approximately 50,000 visitors for the eclipse!  Isn't that nuts!  If we can swing it, we will be 3 of those visitors.  Tom will definitely be one.

While Tom had his meeting at the school, Danny and I played in the hotel room.  Danny like playing with selfie mode of my camera.

We took Rt. 26 all the way back to Portland, which was absolutely beautiful!

Again, lots of stops were made for some playground time.

Our favorite stop on the way home was at Government Camp on Mt. Hood.  TONS of snow!

And again, with about 20 miles to go, Daniel had had enough!

The next day we went to Powell's!  Daniel was browsing the biology section.

Hmm, where's that book I was looking for?

No, this isn't quite it..

Ah, here it is!

On our last day we took a trip to the zoo with Samara!  It was the most sunny and beautiful day we had.  The sun felt good!

And of course, before we got ready to take off, we went to one more playground to get some energy out.

We had an amazing flight home.  It was a pretty empty flight, so we got to bring our car seat on the plane.  A couple minutes after take-off, Daniel fell asleep.  He only woke up once to nurse during the flight.  I went to the empty row behind us and took a nap.  It was amazing!

All in all, we had a great trip!  It was wonderful, as always, to see family.  We spent a lot of time chatting and chasing a baby around.  We're now happily home and Daniel and I are spending another week of spring break together!

More Cheerios

We may have a problem...

This kid loves Cheerios.  I don't even know how it started, but it's got to be stopped...or at least slowed down.

Is this the right end?  How do I get in to this thing!?

Seriously though, we've got to ease up on the Cheerio craze.

New Shoes

We ordered Daniel some slipper/shoe things since he keeps threatening to learn how to walk.  They're a tad too long and it's nearly impossible to tell left from right (if there even is a left and right), but he looks pretty cute in them.

Also, like our baby gate?  His new car seat box fits perfectly in the doorway and we're cheap...sooo voila!

Morning Beach Trip

We had a beautiful morning at Kanaha Beach this morning.  It was by far the most fun Danny has had at the beach.  Hardly any waves, which I think he's scared of, and a nice temperature.

He swam with us for awhile and then we played on the beach for a good amount of time too.

A few months ago, we sat Danny on the beach and he ate some sand and wasn't happy about it.  Since then, we've been lucky that he hasn't purposely eaten sand.  Let's hope he learned that he doesn't like eating sand.

A great way to spend Saturday morning!

Light Reading

Danny picked this atlas off the shelf to read.  He and his nana have something in common :-).

He also really enjoys pulling all his PJs out of the drawers.

He also pulled out a book called Beers of the World.

Just doing some research before our trip to Portland next week!

Old Photos

I'm scrolling through old photos, and ran across this gem.  Can't believe it never got posted anywhere, cause this one is classic!
